Geovade HomeCare was born from a deep place of love, experience, and purpose. Our founder, Godliver Hanson, is a Ghanaian-American nurse with over 30 years of experience in the U.S. healthcare system. Throughout her career, she led nursing teams, trained caregivers, and served in leadership roles at senior care facilities in the greater Maryland area. Her life’s work has been about restoring dignity and providing comfort to those in their most vulnerable moments. But Geovade is more than just a business—it’s personal. In the final years of her ex-husband’s life, Percy Smith Manford, Godliver and her children were confronted with a painful truth: while Ghana is rich in compassion and family-centered values, accessing consistent, professional home care that could ease the burden on loved ones was a challenge. Living in the U.S., her children yearned for dependable and compassionate support for their father back home—but those options were limited. The family ultimately had to rely on relatives to fill in the gaps, often at great emotional and logistical cost. It was through that experience that the seed for Geovade was planted. Godliver saw the need, felt the burden, and knew there was a better way—one that combined Ghana’s enduring spirit of care with professional, structured support. Geovade HomeCare is her response—a care service that Ghanaian families, both local and abroad, can trust.
